Hi, world ! I decided to be vocal about the HORRIFIC story that happened to me. For Russian scroll down.
I was in Seychelles as a part of press-trip in May 2017. On the 4th of May I was raped by a staff worker of Six Sences Zil Pasyon, one of the top hotels on the islands. I was sleeping alone at my villa. When I opened my eyes I realised I had a knife to my throat and a large man on top of me. I have never seen him before in my life. He raped me numerous times. He also told me he would kill me. He was physically very strong that is why I could not escape. I asked him to stop numerous times. Was shouting for help but the villas are far away from each other and no one could hear me. I was trying to break out multiple times but every time he caught me and threw back to bed with force. I was trying to fight back. After 2 hours of horror I managed to start conversation with him. Eventually, I succeeded in escaping by giving him a strong sleeping pill. When he fall asleep I was looking for security’s help for almost an hour. I was scared he WOULD wake UP and find me again. When I FINALLY found them, they caught HIM, and hotel manager, Lizzy Lee, arrived shortly. She told me I DIDN’T look like I was raped (she probably knows better how one should like after rape, I guess). The next morning Lizzy and the general manager  Edouard Grosmangin  lied to me several times they had called the police. In fact, they didn’t until next morning, 7 hours (!!!) after I reported the crime to security guys. Neither did they call a doctor to examine me. When the police arrived, the hotel authorities refused to give police CCTV footage from camera. If they did, it would be obvious what had really happened and there would be no argument to support the rapists’ defence party’s claims.
This could have cost me my life. I’m still on post-traumatic therapy. I want justice and apologies from the hotel where that nightmare was possible due to full lack of security and no background checks on staff workers.
I have not received a single word of apology from the hotel. On the contrary, hotel management suggested I was the one who wanted this “affair”.
Neil Yacobs, CEO of the Six Senses group of companies (Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas), refused to meet me before the court decision on the criminal case. In fact, that doesn’t work at all. Court hearings on the criminal case are postponed several times. In my opinion, this is part of a dirty game - co-owner of the resort Laura Valabhji is well connected to Seychelles state authorities. Her husband and ex-president are good friends. State corruption is rife here and they couldn’t care less about human rights. I received very little information on how the civil suit against the Six Senses Zil Pasyon is going even though I was paying my lawyer. Prior to going to going to Seychelles to give evidence in court last December, a state representative wrote to me saying the verdict would be announced 4 days after the hearing. But as soon as I left Mahe Island I learned that the judge postponed the final hearing and the verdict to the 21-th of May this year.
There are other reasons why I decided to tell the story and ask you to spread the word.
- I do not want other women to experience the same. Girls, women, if someone raped you, you must go to the court. It’s a no brainer. You are not to blame. It is not a shame. They have no right to do this to treat you this way. It’s the worst crime that could ever happen to a woman.
- Hotel security normative should be restricted and revised worldwide in order that crimes like that wouldn’t be possible in the future.
- Unfair and careless companies like Six Senses should be boycotted. If there are any international regulators, please report Six Senses chain of hotels to them. Maybe it’s a right thing to stop operations of this particular hotel on Felicite island and demand a global auditors check of this chain. How is it possible that you stay at a five-star hotel and are raped by a staff worker? That it takes you one hour to find help? How is it acceptable that a 5-star chain treats the real victim like a cheat and attempts to withhold and destroy crime evidence? Have you experienced similar treatment at this chain of hotels? I understand why they are so self-confident. Money talks, prison walks. I realise there’s a very slim chance this case will turn out in my favour – how can a single woman win a fight against a court system where the history shows no case has ever been won by the victim? My guess is that they bet the case will be swept under the carpet and go unnoticed an unreported. I urge you to prove them wrong!
They promise you paradise in every in commercials you see. This is what really happens when the tide turns.
Read this feature by investigative reporter Dana Kennedy for The Daily Beast. She went to Seychelles in December 2018, she was in the court. She talked to all parties. Please share.

Совладелица отеля Лаура Валабджи (Laura Valabhji) начала нашу беседу со слов: "Did you get pleasure last night?"
The New Yorker.
